A powerful tool for project management that we co-developed and implemented in over 20 countries in five continents, delivering outstanding results for technical and non-technical projects alike. ProjectPath is a comprehensive and interactive methodology divided into five phases, each with specific steps and templates to follow. The implementation of ProjectPath is based on two key principles:
Application of ProjectPath principles while working on real projects in guided workshops by GBC, using standard presentations and templates.
The project team and client work hands-on on all phases of their own project under the guidance of GBC.
The life-cycle of a project goes through five consecutive phases. Each phase consists of a number of steps to be followed, a total of 25 steps. No matter the scope or content of a project, it will always follow these five phases and related steps:
Project Definition
Project Planning
Project Realization
Project Completion
Project Evaluation & Transfer
Phase one (Project definition) is a critical component of the project’s success. With GBC’s guidance, the project team and client engage in a structured workshop to reach a consensus on several key aspects of the project. These include following steps:
The team identifies and debates,
– Root causes the project aims to address.
– Objectives that the project should achieve, which will enable the organization to realize its strategic goals.
– Project mission statement that defines the purpose of the project and how it aligns with the organization’s broader mission.
The team conducts a stakeholder analysis to identify all the stakeholders involved in the project, assess their interests, and agree on countermeasures to address them.
The team reviews past experiences and projects to identify lessons learned that could be applied to the current project.
The team outlines the specific deliverables that the project will produce, which will be used to measure its success.
The team establishes a milestone schedule that the project must achieve and by when.
The team defines the project’s organizational structure, including roles and responsibilities, to ensure that everyone is clear on their respective duties and accountabilities.
The team develops a realistic cost estimate for the project, taking into account all the resources required to complete it.
The team identifies potential risks to the project and develops strategies to mitigate them.
By achieving alignment on these critical aspects of the project, the team can set a strong foundation for the rest of the project’s phases and increase the likelihood of achieving its objectives successfully.
“I had the pleasure of working with Ghassan on the development and implementation of this tool worldwide prior to my current engagement with CEMEX. The tool had proven to be a game-changer in managing projects. Senior leaders witnessed the added value of this methodology, resulting in measurable positive outcomes. Ghassan’s expertise in facilitating workshops and getting teams to work together successfully from top to low managerial levels was critical to the success of ProjectPath. He has an innate ability to keep participants engaged and focused while ensuring that all voices are heard and ideas are captured. I highly recommend ProjectPath, and Ghassan as a facilitator, to anyone looking to improve their project management capabilities.”
